Exmoor Young Voices (EYV) has developed aCharter outlining what Exmoor authorities and organisations can do to support young residents and workers. The Charter focuses on helping young people stay on the moor, sustain local life, preserve skills and knowledge, and maintain population balance.
EYV Summit 2019 In 2019, EYV hosted a summit to discuss the proposed Charter and explore the practical actions that Exmoor authorities and organisations could take to adhere to it.
EYV Summit Recall 2022 On 9th June 2022, EYV hosted the Summit Recall, inviting representatives from Exmoor National Park Authority, local housing associations and the main authorities that administer Exmoor. The focus was on how to make Exmoor a viable and sustainable place for young people to live and work.
The Summit featured four EYV members who spoke passionately about their experiences and the challenges they face in continuing to live on the moor – from finding suitable rental properties to navigating the barriers of self-building. Representatives from each authority and organisation were asked to consider a list of pledges outlining practical changes they could implement to help retain young adults on Exmoor. For full details of the discussions, proposed actions, and next steps, please download the Summit Recall Report below. The report also includes an appendix with the speeches delivered by EYV members.
